New Treasures and Chests for Skyblock

It’s no secret that treasure chests are among the most popular items in the game. They play a major role in making it possible for us to keep developing Skyblock at the level of quality you expect. The low price of just a few cents per chest, the continuous addition of new content with great attention to detail, and the ability to freely trade chests and their contents with other players have made them some of the most popular items in the game.

However, with the current system it has become increasingly difficult for us to continue expanding the chest system in a meaningful way. That’s why we decided to fundamentally redesign it. In the future, you will have more control over the different chests, increasing the chances of receiving rewards that are actually useful to you. We have also revised or removed some items, rebalanced the drop chances, and will continue working on improving the overall quality of the contents. At the same time, this change also requires us to adjust the price of the chests.

In addition, we are working on making treasure chests more attractive for players who prefer not to spend money on rubies. Besides the questlines that already allow you to earn special event chests during certain occasions, and the vote lottery, you will now also have the opportunity to obtain treasure chests through trading at the island market.

How do the new chests work?

We now distinguish between Basic Chests and Special Chests. The selection of Basic Chests will always stay the same. This means that no matter which key you obtain, you will always have access to the same set of Basic Chests.

In addition to the Basic Chests, each NPC will have its own Special Chest. You may already know this concept from the seasonal chests. However, we want to expand this idea so that in the future you can look forward to more events—and with them, more unique chests and special items.

Another change is that the chest probabilities will no longer rotate or change randomly. Instead, each NPC will have a fixed Special Chest that will simply be replaced whenever a new season or event begins.

For example, the pirate, who is always available, would offer the new Pirate Chest. The Santa NPC would have the Christmas Chest with festive decorations, and the Hat Collector would offer a chest full of fun hats. This way, you’ll be able to choose chests more deliberately in the future and pick ones that contain items you’re actually interested in.

The New Basic Chests

For a detailed list of possible items, simply click the question mark in the purchase menu. There you can see all items and their drop chances.

Enchantment Chest

The Enchantment Chest contains a large selection of enchanted books. However, you will not find the classic enchantments here. Those can still be obtained from the corresponding merchant at the island market or through fishing.

Instead, the Enchantment Chest focuses on the many special enchantments available in the game.

Smithing Chest

As the name suggests, the Smithing Chest revolves entirely around smithing templates. These allow you to change and upgrade the appearance of your armor, tools, or weapons. In addition, the chest includes special templates such as the Netherite Upgrade or the Renewal Upgrade, which replaces Ferdinand Fix’s Hammer and allows you to fully restore damaged items.

The smithing templates replace the previous decoration scrolls. It is no longer necessary to own a scroll for a specific item. Instead, templates are now divided into three categories:

• Armor trims for armor pieces
• Tool trims for tools such as pickaxes or axes
• Weapon trims for weapons such as swords or shields

Weapon trims are not yet available and will be added in a future update.

Another advantage is that these special templates can now be applied directly at the smithing table, just like other smithing templates in Minecraft. The interface also provides a detailed preview so you can see exactly how the item will look before applying the template.

Furniture Chest

The Furniture Chest is all about Tom Blocks and his furniture. From this chest, you can obtain exclusive luxury furniture that you can collect or sell to other players. Alternatively, you may find Tom Tokens, which allow you to order specific furniture directly from Tom Blocks.

Spawner Chest

Spawners have become an essential part of Skyblock. The Spawner Chest contains various types of spawners, most of which come with a high capacity. These can then be used on your island, sold to other players, or revived later on.

Machine Chest

The future of Skyblock lies in technical progress. Inside the Machine Chest, you will find useful items for automating and expanding your farms and shops. At the moment the selection is still relatively small, but it will be expanded with future updates. The chest contains many familiar machines and redstone components, including:

• the Harvester
• the Trading Terminal
• the Worker
• and Remote Hoppers

It also includes the new Storage Chest, which replaces the previous item storage system. It serves the same purpose but fits visually much better and is easier to use. Large quantities of items can be stored inside and conveniently integrated into your automated farms and systems using hoppers or hopper pipes.

The New Pirate Chest

The pirate will continue selling the regular treasure chest keys, now for a slightly increased price of 150 rubies. Like all other keys, the standard key also has its own special chest. The new Pirate Chest contains many familiar items from the former Wooden and Golden Chests — items that are almost always useful to have.

However, several new items have also been added.

Infinite Ender Pearl

This special Ender Pearl does not disappear after being thrown and can be used unlimited times.
Its range is slightly shorter than a normal Ender Pearl, but it still makes it very convenient for quickly crossing distances or reaching higher places.

Speed Boots

Equipped with Speed V, these boots allow you to move at an incredible pace — faster than with any other footwear in the game.

Rocket Boots

The Rocket Boots allow you to fly on Skyblock even without a premium rank. However, flying consumes durability and this boots are not repairable, so they should be used wisely.

Player Head

By popular demand, the player head is back! You can once again obtain your own head, which you can collect, trade, or give to other players.

Chest Reroll

When opening a treasure chest key, you now have a one-time option to reroll a chest before opening it. To do this, simply destroy the unopened chest. A new random chest will then appear. Of course, there is still a chance that you receive the same chest again. Nevertheless, this feature gives you much more control and increases the chances of getting the chests you actually want.

Treasure Chests at the Island Market

Buying treasure chests with rubies, earning them during events, purchasing them from other players, or getting lucky in the vote lottery are no longer the only ways to obtain them. From now on, you can also obtain treasure chests at the island market from special merchants.

One of these merchants is the brand-new Pirate. He is only interested in gold, and since treasure chests usually don’t contain gold, they are of little use to him. If you fulfill his demands, there is a chance he will leave you a Pirate Chest. However, the pirate only appears on islands very rarely, so you will need a bit of patience and a little luck.

The Enchantment Merchant, introduced in the last update, can now also leave behind the brand-new Enchantment Chest alongside the many books he sells — giving you a chance to obtain the different special enchantments.
